Project Hell- A New Earth Series Novel
She was just what the doctor didn't order

1000 years after Earth has been devastated by a viral plague, the few survivors turn to genetic engineering and advanced robotics to ensure the future of the human race. But not everyone is happy with artificial life living amongst humans, least of all Peyton Chase, a doctor with a harrowing past.

When he’s ‘gifted’ a state-of-the-art companion that he can’t send back, Peyton is far from pleased. She’s sentient. She’s sexy. She’s everything he doesn’t want complicating his life. He nicknames her Hell. She nicknames him a lot of unladylike things, at least in her mind. Because there are rules to a relationship like theirs. Master and Slave. She’s supposed to obey him in all things. But if that’s true, why can’t she stop meddling in his life?

Unfortunately, time is running out for Hell. The deadly truth of her origins is about to catch up with her.

Together, Peyton and Hell must face their worst fears.

But is love strong enough to conquer all? Or is humanity doomed to face extinction?

When she re-entered the living area, he was busy arranging her cargo box in an upright position against the wall beside the outside door.

“Do I have a name?” she asked.

He glanced around at her. “A what?”

“A name,” she repeated, walking slowly toward him.

His brows twitched as he admired her bare legs. “No. Do you require one?”

“Yes.” Imprinting couldn’t continue until she had a name.

The box lid slid shut with a press of his thumb on a switch. He turned to face her directly. “What did they call you at The Factory?”

She stopped in front of him, intrigued by the pleasant horizon of his broad shoulders. His blue shirt, with its ‘V’ of tantalizing chest hair, pulled tight across his well-developed pectorals as he folded his arms and leaned sideways against the wall.

“I don’t remember.”

His brow furrowed. “Then what would you like to be called?”

She affected a relaxed stance and looked up at his face. “I would prefer something meaningful. I am, however, programmed to accept whatever name you choose.”

He grinned, a flash of straight white teeth. “How about Hell?”

“A religious expletive? Really?”

“Seems appropriate, don’t you think?”

She blinked at him, uncertain how to respond as disappointment settled deep inside her. He really didn’t like her. But liking was arbitrary in their kind of relationship. What she needed to do was survive, which meant at least pleasing him until the stasis brain fog wore off and she could remember what it was she’d been running from. She plastered on a pleasant smile. “Verify by repeating this name now.”

His eyes reflected the ambient glow of a nearby lighting orb ensconced on the cream walls, his expression softening as he studied her. He stroked a finger across his dark-stubbled chin. “I’ll call you Helen after Helen of Troy, the woman whose beauty started a war.”

She couldn’t help the pleasure that filled her. Helen was a pretty sounding name. He thought she was beautiful?

“But for short, I’ll call you Hell.” He winked and walked past her across the living room to the couch. “I don’t know about you, but I could really use a drink. Today has been one hell of a day. In fact, you could call it hell-ish.” He sat on the soft seat with an exhausted sigh, chuckling over his pun.
